PSRIG was earlier this year chosen to provide a new lifting solution to the exciting LUX project in the Netherlands – our first dutch FlexBeam installation.
The LUX venue, built in the year 2000, is a multi-functional cultural center in the middle of Nijmegen’s city center. A multi-purpose venue hosting a wide variety of public gatherings as it functions as a cinema, bar, restaurant, and black box (vlakkevloer) theater.
When the theater’s (somewhat purple) black box needed to upgrade its flybar lifting solution, they contacted PSRIG. The current system was being used multiple times a day to fit sound, light, video, and scenery equipment for different performances. But as the original system was at the end of its technical lifespan, it needed to be removed and replaced with a new, more up-to-date solution, compliant with the current technical standards and safety regulations. After looking at multiple options and vendors, LUX finally choose PSRIG as they found our FlexBeam solution with wireless FlexControl optimal for their installation.
PSRIG worked together with the LUX technical crew to remove the old lifting system but purposely left the existing metal sub-structure to mount the 14 new FlexBeams. The lightweight, self-containing compression force FlexBeam system made it possible to re-use the metal sub-structure adding only a minute amount of weight to the entire building structure – thus leaving the usable load capacity unchanged. This solution saves both time and money for the customer as the self-containing construction properties make it the ideal solution for retrofitting older systems with minimal alterations to the building structure.
The upgraded wireless FlexControl system allows the client to get much closer to the moving flybars, significantly increasing the safety and efficiency during installation/dismantling of equipment to and from the flybars.
According to our project manager Gerrit de Beuze, the installation process “went smoothly with a great end result and another happy customer”.
