PSRIG has been chosen by developer PEAB to deliver and install a new lifting system, a sizeble black truss construction, retractable seating and motorized blinds för acoustic control at their Sparbanken Blackbox-project in Vara concert hall.
A little history
In the small city of Vara, in the western middle of Sweden, lives approximately 16,000 inhabitants (numbers for Vara municipality in 2018). Their great concert hall is, however, one of Swedens more wide-ranging establishments measured by their content program. Every spring and autumn a new program is presented with everything from classical music, dance and jazz to theater, stand-up and musicals. The ambition for every season is to reflect the cultural life of the whole world and to offer both variety and something out of the ordinary.
Everything started almost 20 years ago when Lagmansgymnasiet (the Lagman’s upper secondary school) needed a new auditorium. Instead, the leaders of the municipal board decided to build a stand-alone concert hall. In September 2003 the Vara concert hall was inaugurated with pomp and circumstance.
About the project
With a record of 125,000 visitors during 2016 Vara municipality (and sponsor Sparbanken Skaraborg) are now investing 85 million kronor (€8,125,000) in a new expansion: Sparbanken Blackbox – a large multi-functional locale able to accommodate larger audiences and conference groups.
The new all-black locale will have a flat floor, generous ceiling height and retractable seating and therefore offer great flexibility by being able to quickly transform depending on the activity.
