Lately, we at PSRIG have been quite busy with multiple projects surrounded by a lot of secrecy. Not being able to share our finished work is not always that fun. We are therefore delighted to be able to tell you: we have signed an agreement with Byggnadsfirman Otto Magnusson AB regarding the delivery and installation of auditorium chairs for the concert hall in Stadshallen in Lund.
A little history
Stadshallen (Lund City Hall) is called “the living room of Lund’s residents” and is a place “where culture and democracy meet in a unique way – and where everyone is welcome.” The building, located by Stortorget (The Main Square) in central Lund, was drawn by architect Klas Anshelm and built in 1968. The building houses, among other things, a concert hall appropriately named Anshelmhallen and a session hall where Lund City Council holds their monthly meetings.
An architectural competition was held during the late summer of 2019. The goal was to design how the renovation of Stadshallen should look. The winning firm was White Arkitekter and their entry “The stage is set” (pdf size: 22,8 MB).
The proposal has, since then, been processed together with the construction contractor and the operator Altitude Meetings. The renovations are now in full swing, as seen in the picture below. The re-opening is scheduled to take place in the autumn of 2022.
PSRIG’s part
As mentioned, we were hired to supply the seating solution for the concert hall. This project is relatively special as we, together with Lund municipality and White Arkitekter, have designed a solution with fixed chairs for every other row and removable chairs for the other rows.
The ambition is to give the concert hall more flexible furnishings and make room for more types of arrangements. The removable chairs come from Audience System’s mobile Matrix system. The system enables excellent flexibility with quick changing of seating configurations for different purposes. You can easily adapt the number of seats and the amount of space in the walkways.
In total, we are going to install 369 seats of the Espace 628 CC model. This seat is a variation with extra comfort, meaning higher backrests, carved wooden armrests, and more plush seat cushions.
It was truly a joyuous moment the day the contract was signed. A lot of time and effort has been put into the design. In the fourth revision we arrived at a solution that fulfills everyone’s needs and wishes. It will be exciting to see the vision materialize by our skilled installers.

Delivery and installation are planned for June 2022.
